

According to the Computer Industry Almanac, in 2005 the worldwide Internet Population was of 1.08 billion
with a projection of 1.8 billion in 2010.
The estimated total adult Internet population in the Republic of Ireland is 1.81 million
according to the Computer Industry Almanac, 2005. 41% of Ireland's Internet users are under age 25.
The estimated total adult population is 4.02 million.

Funding of €36.6 million in 2005 will support further delivery of the
Broadband Action Plan announced in December, 2003.
Minister Dempsey said, “A number of initiatives are in place which will
ensure the rapid availability of high-speed connectivity to people and businesses
around the country.
The next phase of the Broadband Action Plan, the Group Broadband Scheme
and the Schools Broadband scheme will continue through 2005,
ensuring that we can bring Broadband to all corners of Ireland
and ensure that global markets and opportunities will open up
for all our communities.
The continued provision of competitive and high quality communications infrastructure
will ensure that Ireland’s economy continues to grow onwards and upwards.”
